Pernod Absinthe Superieure

Pernod aux Extraits de Plantes d’Absinthe is a return to the original recipe from Switzerland of the 19th century. It is manufactured with roman wormwood and contains thujone–the chemical said to be responsible for the psychedelic effects (but now in question). It represents Pernod’s entry into the resurgence of absinthe’s popularity. This means the base spirit moves from grain back to eau-de-vie (un-aged brandy) with grapes from a specific region Languedoc France; the grand wormwood is sourced from Pontarlier France; and finally they abandon any green dyes with the new color the result of the natural herbs and the chlorophyll they contain. 68% ABV Awards: San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2009 2011 2012 2013 2016 Beverage Testing Institute 2008 2014 Wine Enthusiast 2009 2015
